One of the constants in Hollywood is the level of beauty that the women in Tinseltown possess. While talent and charisma are needed to actually maintain a successful career, it certainly doesn’t hurt if you are genetically gifted with a symmetrical face and hourglass shape. We went through the history of Playboy Magazine’s cover girls and pictorials and found an unexpected amount of famous women who graced the pages of the mag. Some women decided to pose for Playboy in order to shock and awe their fans, others did so in order to revitalize their careers, and then there are those who just wanted to do it for kicks. Whatever their reason, we are happy they did so and are proud to present these stunning famous ladies’ Playboy Magazine covers.
70s icon and all around stunner Farrah Fawcett posed for Playboy on two separate occasions – December 1995 and July 1997. The cover you see here is the Christmas cover of 1995. The Charlie’s Angels leading lady waited until she was 48 years old to pose for the magazine for the first time, proving to the world that age is just a number.
It wouldn’t be a list of women who shocked and awed their fans without Madonna. The pop diva posed for the magazine in September of 1985 before she was the big name she would later become. It was due to the fact that nude photos of her were leaked to the magazine that she decided to go with the flow and pose for the cover. Way to keep it together!
In January of 1995, Drew Barrymore posed for Playboy. Barrymore was at the height of her bad girl stage at the time and rebelled all the way to the nudie mag. She was only 19 years old when she posed for the cover and pictorial but 19 for her was like 30 for someone else.
In one of the more covered up Playboy covers to date, actress Sherilyn Fenn smiled her seductive smile at readers on the cover of the magazine in December 1990. The timing of this cover was very calculated as Fenn was right in the middle of her Twin Peaks days.
The December 2004 Playboy cover had us seeing a whole new side of actress and then-wife of Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards. The amazing thing about this cover is that Denise was just five months after the birth of her first daughter! That’s one way to bounce back and feel good about yourself post-baby.
Shannen Doherty, known for her role on Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed, was on the cover of Playboy twice in her life – March 1994 and December 2003. The first cover was right around the time her character on 90210 was leaving the show and her second cover was around the time she was on Charmed. Coincidence? We think not.
Reality star Kim Kardashian posed for Playboy in December 2007. For those who watch her reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s, we all saw Kim accept and prepare for the shoot, as well as the behind the scenes action of getting the perfect image for the cover and her pictorial.
Hollywood legend and jaw-dropping beauty Jayne Mansfield, turned heads in February 1955 and June of 1963 in this peek-a-boo issue of Playboy. At the time it wasn’t suitable to be so exposed on the cover of the magazine, but inside all bets were off.
Lindsay Lohan is laying low these days, no longer appearing in any films. However, before her quiet slip away from Hollywood, Lohan posed for Playboy in the January/February 2012 issue. We all saw Lindsay grow up before our eyes from a child star to an A-lister to an anonymous woman, so seeing her in Playboy had people getting mixed emotions.
In February on 1983, Playboy had Kim Basinger on the cover. At the time Basinger was a well-known model and soon to be actress with her role as a Bond girl in Never Say Never Again alongside Sean Connery. Inside the issue, Playboy went all out and ran a profile that included George Plimpton and Sean Connery.
Pamela has posed for Playboy more times than any other famous lady. She has been on 13 Playboy covers and pictorials spanning from 1989 to 2011. Anderson was a friend of Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy, and still loves to pose for the magazine as it makes her feel like she’s still got it. Yes, Pamela, you most certainly do.
Bo Derek loved posing for Playboy it seems as she has done it five times from 1980 to 1994. Derek’s breakout role in the movie 10 had the world extremely aware of who Bo was and what she was capable of (both in film and in fantasy).
Actress Olivia Munn was approached by Playboy to be on their cover in July/August 2009. The starlet was just on her way up in Hollywood and accepted the offer with a condition that she would not be nude but in a bathing suit. Playboy agreed and the result is this lovely image. Olivia was just after her role in the films Insanitarium and The Slammin’ Salmon so she was still a relative unknown.
Lizzy Jagger, daughter of legendary rocker Mick Jagger, decided to make daddy blush by posing nude for Playboy in June of 2011. Lizzy took after her mother in terms of her Playboy spread, as Jerry Hall also posed for the magazine in 1985. Mick probably didn’t think that the apple wouldn’t fall far from the tree in this way, right?
Model Cindy Crawford stripped down for Playboy a total of three times between 1988 and 1998. Crawford found it liberating to strip down to her birthday suit instead of modeling the usual designer duds everyone was used to seeing her in.
Since Moss is indeed a model, it makes sense that she would also make time for Playboy. Kate thought it made sense too and posed for the magazine in the January/February 2014 double issue. Moss got an unprecedented 18-page spread inside the issue, making it very worth while for her and for Playboy readers as well.
Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe graced the cover of Playboy in 1953 as the very first cover girl of the magazine! It’s only fitting that Monroe herself would set off a cover girl tradition that would bring some of Hollywood’s biggest names to the cover of the magazine.
Lingerie and swimsuit model Joanna Krupa got her start on the cover and pages of magazines like Maxim and FHM’s hot lists. It was Playboy who then took her and put her in their pages completely nude. Krupa was in Playboy in July 2005 and again in December of 2009.
In a desperate move to regain a shred of the fame she knew when she was on the reality show The Hills, Heidi Montag posed for Playboy in the September 2009 issue. Heidi certainly gave it get best shot and she looked quite lovely but it didn’t help her career one bit.

Blonde and beautiful actress Jaime Pressly posed for Playboy in February 2004. The starlet went for a more wet t-shirt kind of look for the cover, while the pictorial left even less to the imagination if you could believe that. Pressly is known for her roles in My Name is Earl, Joe Dirt, and Mom.
Rachel Hunter was used to being in front of the camera as a model. However, being in front of the camera nude was a whole new experience for her. Hunter was in the April 2004 issue of Playboy Magazine after also appearing in a pretty steamy music video for the song ‘Stacy’s Mom’.
Taryn Manning, one of the stars of Orange in the New Black, posed for the cover and pictorial of Playboy in the April 2011 issue. Taryn has never been shy about showing some skin, both on paper and on screen. The cover is actually pretty tame for how Manning usually finds herself in her roles.
In January/February of 2010, actress Tara Reid graced the cover of Playboy magazine. Reid is one of those actresses who posed for the magazine in order to try and revitalize her career, after being hugely successful in the late 90s early 2000s. While she looked beautiful on the cover, it didn’t quite do the trick.
Tanya Roberts, also known as Julie Rogers on Charlie’s Angels, posed for Playboy in October 1982 in order to shake some of her ‘angelic’ image if you will. Fans were impressed, to say the least. Roberts later went on to star as Midge on That 70s Show.
It wouldn’t be a list of those who posed for Playboy without Carmen Electra. Electra graced the cover of the magazine twice in her life, in April 2003 and January 2009. The cover you see here is the 2003 version while the 2009 version was in honor of the magazine’s 55th-anniversary issue.
Jessica Alba didn’t actually pose for Playboy. The magazine took her image from her Into the Blue film promotion and put it on the cover of the March 2006 issue. You would think that it would be illegal to do that but in fact, it’s perfectly legit. Alba was actually very upset about the fact that Playboy did that to her and sued them for damages to her career.

The exotic and insanely beautiful actress Tia Carrere struck a pose for the January 2003 issue of Playboy. In December of 1979, actress Raquel Welch made tongues wag with her surprising appearance in Playboy. It truly was the Christmas gift to give that year. Welch was not nude on the cover but her little red swimsuit left little to the imagination.
